Eva B. Morrie
BARRE CITY – Eva B. Morrie, 99,
formerly of Summer Street, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at the Woodridge
Nursing Home in Berlin, Vt.
Born in Barre on June 17, 1905, she was the
daughter of the late Frank and Selinda (Shontell) Machia. She resided in the
Barre area all her life.
On June 29, 1925, she married Oney W. Morrie in
St. Sylvester's Catholic Church in Graniteville, Vt. Mr. Morrie passed away on
Sept. 4, 1966.
Eva was employed at the Barre City Hospital and Central
Vermont Medical Center in Berlin for 24 years as a dietician's aide.
Eva
was a longtime member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in Barre and the Barre
Senior Citizens Club.
Eva had a great love for God, her family and
Vermont, and cherished them all very dearly. She loved to cook and bake,
especially for family gatherings.
Survivors include one daughter, Lucille
(Morrie) Abert of Holyoke, Mass; one daughter-in-law, Helen Morrie of Williston,
Vt.; one son-in-law, Wendell Wheeler of Washington state; 22 grandchildren, 51
great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Lt. Col. Clifford O. Morrie; one
daughter, Joyce (Morrie) Wheeler; four brothers, Frank Machia Jr., Harold
Machia, Orrin Machia and Lawrence Machia; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Bert)
Jerry and Florence (Mrs. Fred) Jewett.
A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated in St. Monica's Catholic Church in Barre on Thursday, Dec. 23, at 11
a.m.
Family and friends may call at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58
Summer St., Barre on Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Entombment will
be in the Elmwood Vault in Barre. A later spring burial will be in St. Sylvester
Cemetery in Lower Websterville, Vt.
